Organise income, spending and commitments with their timing and source. You can leave uncertain values marked for review.

What still needs checking
01
Keep different kinds of income distinct.
Record amounts with their frequency and whether they are gross or take-home figures. Variable income and one-off receipts can be listed separately. A credit in an account is not automatically dependable monthly income.
02
Include commitments outside the usual month.
Annual fees, premiums and irregular household costs may not appear in a typical monthly snapshot. Note their schedule so they can be reviewed alongside regular outgoings.
03
Check for overlapping entries.
A savings contribution, loan payment or recurring expense can appear in more than one source. Keep source references and review possible duplicates before relying on a total.
04
Unknown does not mean zero.
Label a figure as estimated or unknown when appropriate. The purpose of collecting information is to make the picture understandable, including the parts that still need clarification.
